Natural and organic
cosmetic sales continue to increase at a healthy rate in the United States and Europe. Good health is often associated in consumers’ minds with all things natural, while chemicals are considered by some to be bad. Consequently, these perceptions have given rise to demand for natural additives and ingredients used in cosmetics. Over the past five years, cosmetics markets have been facing stagnating cosmetics sales and slowing growth. In an effort to improve sales, manufacturers have capitalized on growing consumer interest in health and wellness and have started to invest in new products containing natural ingredients. This investment seems to be paying off, with certain industry sources predicting that the natural/organic skin care, hair care and color cosmetics markets will continue to grow by impressive numbers in the future.
